What is Prime Timers Hamilton?
Our Mission Statement:
Prime Timers Hamilton: “a fraternal organisation whose objective is to facilitate educational, cultural and social activities among gay and bisexual men in a supportive atmosphere.”
Prime Timers Hamilton is a social organization that provides mature gay and bisexual men and their admirers the opportunity to enrich their lives by engaging in varied activities.
We are a diverse group of men. Some are single, some coupled. Some are retired, some still working. We are and were businessmen, social workers, teachers, artists, medical professionals, labourers, and much more. Our membership comes from Hamilton, Burlington and the entire Golden Horseshoe and is open to any man who identifies as gay or bisexual over the age of 21.
The first Prime Timers was founded in 1987 by a retired professor, Woody Baldwin. He felt a wide gap existed in today’s gay society that catered almost exclusively to the young. Woody began the Boston chapter by placing ads in local newspapers and soliciting his many friends. The attendance at the first meeting indicated to Woody that a need existed for a social and cultural organization to aid and support the mature gay and bisexual man. Now the organization has grown to 80 chapters worldwide located throughout the United States and Canada.
A number of years ago, Prime Timers Worldwide officially changed their minimum age requirement to twenty-one to encourage younger men who may enjoy socializing with more mature men to feel welcome and included.
Prime Timers Hamilton was founded in January of 2012 through the hard work of many men in the greater Hamilton community.
On Saturday, September 15th, 2018 Jack Nimmo, President of Prime Timers Worldwide presented Prime Timers Hamilton our charter as a recognized chapter of Prime Timers Worldwide.
Prime Timers Hamilton affirms a policy of non-discrimination based on race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, record of offences, marital status, family status or disability. However, as a fraternal organisation promoting the social opportunities of our members, we limit our membership to men who identify as gay or bisexual and have obtained an age of 21 years. We limit our guests at regular functions to men who identify as gay or bisexual and have obtained an age of 21 years.
