What Is Prime Timers Hamilton?

Prime Timers Hamilton is a social organization that provides mature gay and bisexual men and their admirers the opportunity to enrich their lives by engaging in varied activities.

We are a diverse group of men. Some are single, some coupled. Some are retired, and some still working. We are and were businessmen, social workers, teachers, artists, medical professionals, labourers, and much more. Our membership comes from Hamilton, Burlington and the entire Golden Horseshoe and is open to any man who identifies as gay or bisexual over the age of 21.

Our History

Woodrow Wilson Baldwin

The first Prime Timers was founded in 1987 by a retired professor, Woody Baldwin.  He felt a wide gap existed in today’s gay society that catered almost exclusively to the young.  Woody began the Boston chapter by placing ads in local newspapers and soliciting his many friends.  The attendance at the first meeting indicated to Woody that a need existed for a social and cultural organization to aid and support the mature gay and bisexual man. The organization has grown to 80 chapters worldwide in the United States and Canada.

A number of years ago, PrimeTimers® Worldwide officially changed their minimum age requirement to twenty-one to encourage younger men who may enjoy socializing with more mature men to feel welcome and included.

Prime Timers Hamilton was founded in January of 2012 through the hard work of David Luz and many men in the greater Hamilton community.

On Saturday, September 15th, 2018 Jack Nimmo, then President of PrimeTimers® Worldwide presented Prime Timers Hamilton our charter as a recognized chapter of PrimeTimers®  Worldwide.

At the Prime Timers Worldwide Convention in Chattanooga in 2021, a second charter was presented in preparation for the 35th anniversary of the first Prime Timers chapter in Boston, MA.
